Contempt.

A contempt action is the type of case that is filed when a party to a case is not obeying a court order. Contempt actions can be filed when a party is not paying court ordered child support, not allowing the children to follow the parenting plan, not carrying health insurance for the children or any other part of a court order. Often, mediation is required prior to the contempt hearing to allow the parties to determine if they can resolve the issues without court involvement.
